FURTHER WEDDING INSPIRATIONS

When people asked the colourscheme of our wedding (which happened a lot!), I told them “black, white, grey, cream, tan and every pastel colour”! I found it way easier to style everything based on a theme, rather than a colour scheme. Apparently Walt Disney used to tell his illustrators “keep it cute”, and that kind of became our style mantra for the wedding. Don’t be afraid to do your own thing – but do be prepared for a lot of raised eyebrows! Some advice I wish I had followed: Don’t waste your energy worrying about other people will think. I heard of people (friends, in fact) saying things like “a wedding is supposed to be a WEDDING,” and that what we were planning didn’t measure up. People may try to tell you that a wedding needs to have x, y and z (big white dress, limo and roses maybe?) to be a “real wedding,” but that’s just not true! The opinions of you and your husband are the only ones that matter. You are the only people that will look back on your wedding day as a defining moment in your lives, so why waste your time worrying about the opinions of people for whom it is just another party? After many sleepless nights worrying about what people would say about our wedding, the day finally passed and I realised how little what they thought actually mattered!
My second piece of advice is try to accept as quickly as possible that your wedding probably won’t be the most original, amazing wedding that there has ever been. Perfection is unattainable, so save the heartache and plan for an imperfect wedding! Don’t be afraid to take inspiration from all the amazing wedding blogs out there. I don’t think I had a single original idea throughout the whole wedding process! But if you want to get philosophical about it, is an original idea even possible these days? An awesome quote that really helped me: “Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to the soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.” – Jim Jarmusch (film maker).
KITSCHY PEN TABLE FLOWER GUESTBOOK (&others)

This idea is perfect for a fun springtime wedding! Picture it: the table is covered in green grass, and guests can “pick” a flower pen, use it to sign your guestbook, and then keep the pen as a wedding favor!

Materials Needed:

  • fake flowers — Fake flowers are pretty easy to find at thrift stores (consider buying them there to recycle materials) (50 head £12.00 ebay)
  • floral tape (£1.65 two rolls on ebay
  • pens (£6.00 for 60 ebay)
  • tags
  • string
  • fake grass — enough to cover your tabletop 1.5 times (I got mine here)
  • wire cutters
  • hole punch
  • scissors
  • utility knife

Edworth Manor Farm

.............................

Edworth Manor is an arable farm, although a small number of sheep are grazed in one field. It is much larger than Saltmore farm consisting of about 400 acres or 162 hectares.

The farm has an old Tithe barn that is used by a group for archery practice. The farm also has a disused church in the grounds.

It is the main farm in the area used to grow trial crops testing different varieties. The other fields are used to grow crops such as wheat, barley, field beans and oilseed rape.

This farm is also owned by David and Rosemary Smythhttp://www.yourhertsbedswedding.co.uk/realwedding_detail.cfm?Realwedding_ID=156

Weddings at The Fleece Inn

The Fleece Inn is the quintessential English pub with an orchard garden and a thatched barn. Set in the village of Bretforton on the edge of the Cotswolds, it provides an idyllic location for your wedding.
The Inn is a 15th-century timber-framed medieval farmhouse and is opposite to the beautiful church of St Leonard's across the village square.
Weddings at Moseley Old Hall

Moseley Old Hall is a beautiful Elizabethan house set in the Staffordshire countryside, with a 17th-century style formal knot garden. The house is more famously known for its association with Charles II.
WEDDING INSPIRATION PART 2....

Small touches like this make something real special of a basic wedding. scouring ebay means you can buy these items in bulk at a discount of the cost you would expect from a mainstream store.

I read somewhere that one couple had the balloons under the guests chairs so that they were informed of them at the point of the speeches. From here they went outside and lit them. A perfect accompanyment if you have matches as a favour!
We have already purchased glow sticks and managed to get 600 on ebay for £15. We have used a few at a recent celebration but it's a small cost to add a new dimension to your celebrations.

Think of the pictures! Here are some other simple tokens to enhance your day....

BUTTON BOUQUETS

there seems to be a real market for the button bouquets and at a comparitively reasonable price. It appears to be something so simple but can be prepared long in advance of the day itself without the worry of wilting or spoiling. If you're not craft-minded then Etsy.com has vendors that have constructed ones that you can purchase or send your specifications to the vendors to have them create yours to order.

Heres a few more to give you an idea....

THE BUTTERFLY WEDDING

there is something truly romantic about the humble butterly. It is such a beautiful and harmless creature that seems to embody the simplicity of love. It seems natural that it should be used within a wedding either to accompany the flowers or even in place of flowers should the desire be such.

Graphic Design at it's best

“Don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say yes.”

Austrian Lake Is Also a Popular Hiking Spot
A rare natural phenomenon turns one of Austria’s most beautiful hiking trails into a 10 meter-deep lake, for half the year.
Located at the foot of the Hochschwab Mountains, in Tragoess, Styria, Green Lake is one of the most bizarre natural phenomena in the world. During the cold winter months, this place is almost completely dry, and used as a country park where hikers love to come and spend some time away from urban chaos. But as soon as temperatures rise, the snow and ice covering the mountaintops begin to melt, and the water pours down, filling the basin below with crystal-clear water.
Water levels go from one-two meters at most, to over 10 meters, in the early summer. The waters of Green Lake are highest in June, when this extraordinary place is invaded by divers, curious to see what a mountain park looks like underwater. Fish swimming over wooden benches, a grass-covered bottom, trees, roads, roads and even bridges create a surreal setting that feels like it belongs on dry ground. That’s because for half of the year, that’s exactly where it’s at.

Take a look at the amazing images of the Green Lake, shot during the summer season:

LEMON SUGAR SCRUB

This is an awesome gift idea and something I totally love as a part favour. It's so simple to do and the colour is so beautiful. Here's how

Begin my mixing 2 1/2 Cups of Sugar with 1 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Add in 4 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice {or scented essential oils to your liking}. This mixture will make enough to fill a 12oz. Mason Jar {and you'll have just enough left over to clean your hands afterwards too}
