JELLY SHOT TEST KITCHEN
END OF SUMMER JELLY SHOT;
The French 75 (with gin)
Recommended Pan: Standard Loaf Pan (approximately 8” x 4”)
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup lemonade concentrate (strained to remove solids)
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 envelopes Knox gelatin *
- 2/3 cup gin (Mr. M. suggests Gordons or Bombay Sapphire)
- 2/3 cup flat champagne, prosecco or other white sparkling wine **
- 1 tsp sugar (if desired)
- Lemon zest garnish, if desired (we prefer these to be ribbon-y and just for looks)
Combine lemonade concentrate and water in saucepan (and sugar if using). Sprinkle with gelatin and allow to soak for a minute or two. Heat over very low heat, stirring constantly, until gelatin is fully dissolved (approximately 5 minutes). Remove from heat, and stir in the gin and champagne. Pour into pan and chill until fully set, several hours or overnight.
To serve, cut into desired shapes. Garnish with lemon zest. Makes 18 to 24 shots.
* Note: if using a flexible silicon mold, as shown above, add 1/2 envelope additional gelatin (1/2 envelope equals about a teaspoon of gelatin powder). A slightly firmer jelly shot is easier to pop out of molds.
** Why flat champagne? Using flat champagne results in a cleaner looking jelly shot - otherwise the champagne foams and bubbles when poured into the pan, and can leave a foamy residue on the top of the jelly shots unless skimmed off before chilling.

Cake in a jar
RAINBOW CAKE IN A JAR

Cakes baked in jars can be topped with traditional metal canning lids and stored in the fridge for up to five days. They make a great treat to ship to someone, so long as you can ensure delivery to it’s final destination within 3 days. Of course, you don’t have to do anything special with your cake-in-a-jar. There’s something lively & different about serving personal-sized batched of cake in glass mason jars. They make for great dinner party conversations and ever better after-school suprises for your kiddos. Especially this one. Because, who doesn’t love sunshine in a jar?

FURTHER WEDDING INSPIRATIONS

My second piece of advice is try to accept as quickly as possible that your wedding probably won’t be the most original, amazing wedding that there has ever been. Perfection is unattainable, so save the heartache and plan for an imperfect wedding! Don’t be afraid to take inspiration from all the amazing wedding blogs out there. I don’t think I had a single original idea throughout the whole wedding process! But if you want to get philosophical about it, is an original idea even possible these days? An awesome quote that really helped me: “Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to the soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery – celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.” – Jim Jarmusch (film maker).
KITSCHY PEN TABLE FLOWER GUESTBOOK (&others)
This idea is perfect for a fun springtime wedding! Picture it: the table is covered in green grass, and guests can “pick” a flower pen, use it to sign your guestbook, and then keep the pen as a wedding favor!
Materials Needed:
- fake flowers — Fake flowers are pretty easy to find at thrift stores (consider buying them there to recycle materials) (50 head £12.00 ebay)
- floral tape (£1.65 two rolls on ebay
- pens (£6.00 for 60 ebay)
- tags
- string
- fake grass — enough to cover your tabletop 1.5 times (I got mine here)
- wire cutters
- hole punch
- scissors
- utility knife
MINI WAVING FLAGS/CENTREPIECES
So, for this project you will need the following:
- Mini flags
- A computer
- Some sort of design program (I used Adobe's Photoshop and InDesign)
- Scissors
- Liquid Stitch (£13.00 ebay) or some similar adhesive
- Fabric transfer paper (20 sheets £10.00 ebay)
- An inkjet printer
- Pillowcases or t-shirts you don't care about
- An iron
- A flat work surface

Edworth Manor Farm

Edworth Manor is an arable farm, although a small number of sheep are grazed in one field. It is much larger than Saltmore farm consisting of about 400 acres or 162 hectares.
The farm has an old Tithe barn that is used by a group for archery practice. The farm also has a disused church in the grounds.
It is the main farm in the area used to grow trial crops testing different varieties. The other fields are used to grow crops such as wheat, barley, field beans and oilseed rape.
This farm is also owned by David and Rosemary Smythhttp://www.yourhertsbedswedding.co.uk/realwedding_detail.cfm?Realwedding_ID=156

Weddings at The Fleece Inn |
The Fleece Inn is the quintessential English pub with an orchard garden and a thatched barn. Set in the village of Bretforton on the edge of the Cotswolds, it provides an idyllic location for your wedding. The Inn is a 15th-century timber-framed medieval farmhouse and is opposite to the beautiful church of St Leonard's across the village square. |
WEDDING INSPIRATION PART 2....
Small touches like this make something real special of a basic wedding. scouring ebay means you can buy these items in bulk at a discount of the cost you would expect from a mainstream store.
I read somewhere that one couple had the balloons under the guests chairs so that they were informed of them at the point of the speeches. From here they went outside and lit them. A perfect accompanyment if you have matches as a favour!
We have already purchased glow sticks and managed to get 600 on ebay for £15. We have used a few at a recent celebration but it's a small cost to add a new dimension to your celebrations.

BUTTON BOUQUETS
there seems to be a real market for the button bouquets and at a comparitively reasonable price. It appears to be something so simple but can be prepared long in advance of the day itself without the worry of wilting or spoiling. If you're not craft-minded then Etsy.com has vendors that have constructed ones that you can purchase or send your specifications to the vendors to have them create yours to order.

THE BUTTERFLY WEDDING
there is something truly romantic about the humble butterly. It is such a beautiful and harmless creature that seems to embody the simplicity of love. It seems natural that it should be used within a wedding either to accompany the flowers or even in place of flowers should the desire be such.

“Don’t be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying yes begins things. Saying yes is how things grow. Saying yes leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say yes.”

Austrian Lake Is Also a Popular Hiking Spot
Take a look at the amazing images of the Green Lake, shot during the summer season:
Austrian Lake Is Also a Popular Hiking Spot
A rare natural phenomenon turns one of Austria’s most beautiful hiking trails into a 10 meter-deep lake, for half the year.
Located at the foot of the Hochschwab Mountains, in Tragoess, Styria, Green Lake is one of the most bizarre natural phenomena in the world. During the cold winter months, this place is almost completely dry, and used as a country park where hikers love to come and spend some time away from urban chaos. But as soon as temperatures rise, the snow and ice covering the mountaintops begin to melt, and the water pours down, filling the basin below with crystal-clear water.
Water levels go from one-two meters at most, to over 10 meters, in the early summer. The waters of Green Lake are highest in June, when this extraordinary place is invaded by divers, curious to see what a mountain park looks like underwater. Fish swimming over wooden benches, a grass-covered bottom, trees, roads, roads and even bridges create a surreal setting that feels like it belongs on dry ground. That’s because for half of the year, that’s exactly where it’s at.

This is an awesome gift idea and something I totally love as a part favour. It's so simple to do and the colour is so beautiful. Here's how
Begin my mixing 2 1/2 Cups of Sugar with 1 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Add in 4 Tablespoons of Lemon Juice {or scented essential oils to your liking}. This mixture will make enough to fill a 12oz. Mason Jar {and you'll have just enough left over to clean your hands afterwards too}
